Bobby at the front desk was friendly and helpful when there was a booking snafu. The room was okay, the bed was comfortable, and I didn’t see any bed bugs. It was close to the plaza and the cheapest price in Taos, but the grounds were unkempt, with tall grass and trash around. The pool was closed for “special cleaning,” which apparently meant pumping green water into a trash can. There were a few wall stains, a broken sink skirt, and the toilet rattled violently when flushed, though it stayed in place. Some people seem to live there, judging by cars in various states of disrepair in the parking lot and behind one room, plus kitchen chairs on the walkways. There was also a very friendly stray cat. I’m not saying the city should shut it down, but it definitely needs improvements.

This place was gross. There were dirty, stained sheets, bed bugs, and drooping moldy ceiling panels that seemed ready to fall on your head. You’d get a better night’s sleep in your car. At least they offered a wonderful continental breakfast in their “clean” and “sanitary” breakfast area :/ . It doesn’t deserve any stars, but I had to choose at least one to post. Taos should be ashamed for allowing the Indian Hills Inn to operate in the city. I left with a very sour taste in my mouth.

The room was awful, run down, and filthy, and we could hear people talking and the TV in the next room. In the parking lot, a man and woman were arguing, and it looked like some people might live there. Two young women were running the office with two dogs. We told them it wasn’t what we expected and we couldn’t stay. One offered to move us to another section, but we were told there were no refunds, so we left. They said the credit card machine wasn’t working and charged us less for cash. Only afterward did I realize that story was a scam, and they had my cash. Otherwise I could have stopped the card transaction. Chalk one up for a bad experience. One star is too high, and this place needs to be shut down.

The room was a mess and not worth $76 a night. The place felt dingy, and the sheets and towels were old and stained. There was no bar soap for washing hands, just little shampoo packets. The walls are so thin you can hear the neighbors as if they’re in your room. Housekeeping was very rude and unprofessional, and the way the room was cleaned reflected that. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

We drove almost 3 hours for a concert in August after reserving a room back in March, only to be told at check-in that there was no room for me. The woman at the desk had just told the man ahead of me that they were overbooked and someone wouldn’t get a room. She printed him a contract and said she’d help him after finding him a room. When I gave her my reservation details, she blamed the agency I booked through for not telling me about the double booking, then read terms from a paper. She said she couldn’t help and put up a sign saying she’d be “back in 5.” Her family had been sitting with her behind the desk, and they all left the area. Four other guests were waiting in the lobby with concerns, and no one was available to help. We could hear the family cussing and yelling in another room. My husband and I waited 15 minutes, then contacted the booking agency. Everything was sold out within a 60 mile radius. The experience was atrocious. Her attitude and demeanor were ugly, and the family was ghetto. It seemed like a family run business where no one cared about the place or the guests, just making money. Despite the convenient location, I recommend staying at ANY other hotel in Taos or the surrounding area.
