Carter Estate Winery And Resort

The vineyards around Carter Estates made for a beautiful setting, and the room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and an especially big bathtub. At check-in, the front desk team were so helpful and even let us in early, which we really appreciated. Everything was better than we expected. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

It was so peaceful and pretty at carters, and we felt safe even walking from our bungalow to reception at night. My husband and I came for a simple getaway before his birthday, and we were already wishing we could return the next day. The room was fancy, cozy, and really spacious. We couldn’t hear our neighbors at all. The only downside for me was the firm mattress, since I prefer a softer one. If you want somewhere quiet and beautiful, this is it.

The shuttle to South Coast Winery was supposed to come if we called ten minutes ahead. We called fifteen minutes before pickup, waited twenty, then were told it could be another 10 to 25 minutes. We had dinner reservations and would have been late, so we drove ourselves. The room was dated and the Murphy bed was really uncomfortable. The ceiling fan only had a high setting, like a tornado. There were no extra toiletries like in the photos, no bath cap or mouthwash, and no USB charging port. The patio door didn’t lock, and we needed instructions for locking it and using the shower. The TV was small for such a big room and had only a few channels, so you’ll need a NetFlex account to watch much. This place shouldn’t call itself a resort, it’s a glorified inn at best. Overpriced for a dated hotel, and I won’t stay again.

If you’re staying on the east side, get up early, take your coffee out to the patio and watch the balloons at sunrise. The view is worth it. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and it’s lovely to walk around. We appreciated being able to bring our small dog, though there are coyotes at night. We could hear them but never saw them, so keep dogs close and on leash. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We ordered breakfast room service, which was basic but good, and the bedding and bath towels were nice. We didn’t try the pool, though it looked comfortable. Looking forward to another visit.
