Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix/Tempe ASU Area

Alison and Aaliyah are amazing, and Jamie at the bar is a great server and fun to talk to. I stayed here again recently, and just like last time, everything was perfect. I don't understand the low service ratings some guests give over lumpy beds or oddly shaped pools. Those things have nothing to do with service, which is top notch!

The hotel felt welcoming and was very clean, and the staff were nice. My one real gripe is the new room layout, which seems to be standard for the new Hilton Garden Inns. The entryway master light switch is oddly placed, and the bathroom barn door doesn't give good privacy. The long TV stand and desk also make the room feel smaller. That's why I held back the fifth star.

I've had positive stays at this Hilton Garden Inn before, and this visit was no different until checkout. I had to leave early for personal reasons, which I take responsibility for, and my belongings, including my cat, were left in the room. When I called to get them back, hospitality manager Allison Watson wouldn't explain what happened to my property or my cat. She only said the cat had been “sent away.” To clarify my response to management: I am not asking about any law-enforcement matter. Police confirmed this isn't a police issue, and there is no report or record involving my cat. My concern is only about my cat, who is legally considered personal property under Arizona law. I contacted the hotel within 24 hours to ask where she was, so calling her “abandoned” isn't accurate. Since then, I've repeatedly asked what happened to her after the room was cleared. I've been met with refusals, raised voices and calls ending without an answer. I was also told animal control or a shelter wasn't contacted, but no other location has been disclosed. I just want clear information about where my cat was taken so I can focus on finding and recovering her. Hilton has otherwise always been reliable for me, but management's lack of transparency, accountability and professionalism here was unacceptable. I can't recommend staying here.

We had trouble sleeping, so moved to another room, which was much quieter until 5 a.m., when planes started flying overhead on their way to PHX. The rooms at the back of the hotel are near a 24-hour gas station that plays music all night, and you keep hearing cars rev their engines. Noise was our main issue, and we'd probably not stay again. We both sleep lightly, so it was a struggle, though it may not bother most people. The hotel and rooms are nice, the gym is a typical hotel gym, and it's near the airport and Tempe Marketplace, with lots of shopping. If the A/C let you run just the fan, it would help drown out the outside noise.
