Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tempe by IHG

We had a spacious room with two queen beds and a sofa bed for five people, and the price was reasonable. A few stains on the carpet and a funky smell took away from it a bit. The pool was nicely heated during our December visit. Breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn Express mix of hot and cold food, with something for everyone. They opened an extra seating area, so we could always find a place to sit. The elevators were slow, and one broke down while we were there.

Traffic on Baseline and Priest Dr keeps going even at 3 or 4 in the morning, so be ready for that. Otherwise, getting to and from I-10 was easy, with a gas station across the street and a restaurant next door. Breakfast was good, standard HIE food, though the milk came in half-gallon glass jugs instead of individual cartons. The room was spacious, clean, and very nice. Hector and Sebastian made check-in easy, they were friendly, polite, and helpful. The bathtub floor got a bit slick, so non-slip strips might help. I didn’t ask whether they had bath mats, and it wasn’t a huge issue. If we’re back in the area, we’d stay here again.

After a problem at another nearby Holiday inn express, this place came to the rescue. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the front desk staff were especially welcoming and helpful. I think her name was Angelica, or maybe Angelina, sorry, my memory’s foggy. She answered all my questions and was really accommodating. This was wonderful customer service, something that can be lacking at other businesses. Thank you!

I stayed at this Tempe, Arizona hotel from 01/16/2026 to 01/21/2026. There was a very strong sewage smell in my room, and it made it hard to sleep at night. I asked to move, but was told the hotel was fully booked and there wasn’t another room available. From this experience, I don’t think it meets the standard I’d expect from a three-star property. It felt more like a one- or two-star hotel.
