Motel 6 Tempe, AZ - Scottsdale South

I’ve stayed here at least six times, and it’s a good motel, but I won’t be back after what happened with staff. At my last check-in, they charged me $16 more than the reservation confirmation. I showed it to the clerk, who said she’d fix it. I thought she was correcting it then, but saw in the car that she hadn’t. I returned to the office. She said coldly that she’d told me she took a photo of the confirmation and would pass it to the manager to fix. She hadn’t said that, and I hadn’t seen her take a photo, but she insisted she had. I let it go. A week later, I still hadn’t received a refund, so I called the manager. He said nobody had told him and promised to call back, but never did. My bank refunded the money. I was glad to get it, but the motel should have refunded me. Poor service, and lies, lies, lies.

Kelly was welcoming and friendly when I arrived at the check-in counter. I’d spoken with her by phone because my flight was delayed, and fortunately they held my room until late in the evening. The motel is in a good spot, about 20-30 minutes from the airport, and the parking lot is spacious. My room was clean, and the air conditioner was already running when I got there. It was perfect for a one-night stay.

The room was filthy. The beds had no top sheet, the floor was nasty, and the toilet was coming loose. I called the front desk, and they fixed the bed and sent someone to caulk around the toilet. That still didn’t make the floors any less gross. The floor in front of the sink looked like this. Never again.

The front desk woman was very kind, and check-in went smoothly. There were several groups hanging around in the parking lot, which made us a little uneasy about leaving the car, but everything turned out fine. We got through the night without incident, but I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it. We needed an inexpensive place near the airport for an early flight. I was hesitant about a motel, but the good reviews persuaded me to try it. The AC was blasting when we entered, and the bathroom fan was on. There was a faint smell we couldn’t identify, and I got the impression they were airing the room out. It was late and we were tired, so I didn’t go back to the desk. Then we found stains on the sheets. The place had recently been renovated but still didn’t feel clean. There was hair on the floor and in the sheets, and everything felt grimy.
