Studio 6 Tempe, AZ – Elliot Road

The location was a plus, with lots nearby and a quiet area, and the price was good. I was in town for my college graduation with my kids after a last-minute problem with our original hotel. The room itself was dusty, though, and neither bed had clean bedding. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut all the way, the TVs barely worked, and the remotes didn’t work at all. It seemed like the linens weren’t washed well. Rooms aren’t cleaned unless you ask, and getting fresh towels was difficult. The front desk clerk said he had to save them and gave us only two for four people. Given all that, the rate should be lower.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and the location is great. The room was updated and otherwise well equipped, though there weren’t any dishes, utensils, or pots and pans despite it being a kitchenette suite. I also had trouble with the bathroom sink draining and couldn’t get the shower water hot enough. A wall fan ran all night with no off switch. The room had a heavily scented cleaner, which seems unnecessary given people’s sensitivities, and the lobby coffee was bad enough that I drove elsewhere for a decent cup. Road noise was surprisingly low. There should be signs pointing to the elevator and room numbers, and I’d appreciate cameras in the passageways for safety.

We were using the hotel as a stop before continuing our road trip, but we won’t come back. The room smelled foul and had strange burn marks on the table, counters, and floor. In the bathroom, the door was peeling, there were odd stains, and the new-looking toilet seat still had adhesive left on it. Paper had been stuffed in to stop a water leak, and most of the outlets didn’t work. My mom needs a breathing machine to sleep, and I knew she wouldn’t get much rest that night without working outlets. My brother said the front desk was extremely incompetent when he checked us in. The reviews seem misleading, even with the renovations. I guess you get what you pay for.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and the rooms were spacious and very clean. It’s pet friendly, too. The bed was super comfortable. I’d recommend it.
