Holiday Inn Temple-Belton by IHG

For the month I was here on a work stay, the staff made it pleasant. They greeted me warmly and were always friendly, and I felt safe. The hotel is just off I-35. I opted to go green, so housekeeping came about every five days, and they were happy to bring extra towels or anything else I needed. In the room there was a Keurig and a mini-fridge, and they brought me extra hangers when I asked. The evening staff even helped me print a personal document in color, and helped me make a “flat Stanley” story for a child. That was quite an experience!

My company booked me here for two weeks, and I wouldn’t choose this hotel or this brand again. The rooms feel dated, the AC units smell strange, and the plumbing is old and unreliable. I saw plungers outside guest rooms day after day. The interstate location also means you hear cars and semis all night, and I didn’t feel there was meaningful security: someone can reach guest floors without a key or stopping at the desk. I watched an Uber driver drop off food, then saw the same driver wandering another floor about twenty minutes later. I also had a bad impression of manager Cheryl G., who seemed to have boundary issues and issues with people of color. The treatment made me feel like I’d entered a sundown town after dark. Breakfast was awful too, microwaved food kept on warmers and sold for $12.99. If safety, a decent night’s sleep, and being treated like a human being matter to you, look elsewhere.

Lia was so warm and personable when she checked me in. I had a great stay, and Taylor and Jill at the restaurant were wonderful too. I spilled coffee, and they wouldn’t even let me help clean it up. I apologized, but they were really kind about it. Thanks, ladies!

Pearl was our waitress and she was super friendly. The hotel was nice and clean, with a full service restaurant and a very good breakfast buffet where they’ll cook eggs to order.
