Econo Lodge Inn & Suites

The owner was friendly, the room was clean for an affordable motel, and it was close to pretty much everything. It really came in handy during a cross-country drive. I couldn't find the vending machines at first since they were tucked away, but I think I understand why. Good stay, and I'd come back.

The bed was great, the furniture was nice, and housekeeping had folded the towels neatly. For the location, the price was decent, but this is a motel, not a hotel, and the remodeling was poorly done. There was a brown stain splashed across the wall and toilet from the drop ceiling, maybe from before I arrived, or maybe the plumbers left a mess. The walls had thick globs of paint and the bathroom drain had been spray-painted. The paint smell was so strong I had a coughing fit before bed. The peel-and-stick floor shifted underfoot, which seems like a bad idea where spills could get trapped underneath. The old single-pane sliding windows also let in every sound from outside.

There were mice in the room, two of them trying to get into everything. I put my things up high, but I didn't sleep at all. At $110 a night, it felt nasty. I picked this place during a cross-country trip after staying somewhere really nice in New Mexico, but it wasn't remotely the same. If I'd seen the mice at check-in, I would've left, but it was late. Never again, gross.

We didn't feel safe here. The place is run down, and there were full-time residents who looked rough. Our room was tiny and rough too, like a jail cell. They also asked us for a deposit and never returned it.
