Super 8 by Wyndham Terre Haute

Check-in was my only interaction with staff, and they weren't very friendly. The place was also hard to find, and the hallways smelled strongly of marijuana. In the room, the AC filters looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. The room itself was old and not very clean: stained washcloths and shower curtain, no tub stopper, and a king bed with tiny pillows that looked like throw pillows. Then I found a glob of food stuck on the wall by the bed, and the sheets are super itchy. I feel like I need a shower, but I'm scared to find out what the water's like. This might've been fine for $50, but it was gross for $90.

The front desk was great, and this was the only one of the four Wyndham Motels we stayed at on the trip that returned our deposit quickly without any calls. The rest of the stay was rough. We were on our way home from Colorado to Ohio after my father's services, tired and hoping to relax. If we hadn't been so done for the day, we'd have left. The room was so bad we slept in our clothes and didn't bring anything in. There was no hot water, only slightly warm even after I let it run for ages, and dead bugs were scattered across the floor. Under the safe was so much dust, bugs, and spiderwebs that it looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the motel opened. The exit door at the end of the hall was broken and kept slamming against the wall all night.

The people there were kind and welcoming, but the hotel was not very clean. The rooms were decorated nicely, though ours smelled foul when we walked in, like cigarette smoke mixed with mold. Turning on the AC made the smell go away. There was an elevator panel lying on the floor, and the stairs were sticky and dirty when we tried them instead. Whenever we went to the front desk, nobody was there.

The lobby coffee station has regular and decaf available hot at all hours, and the shower had hot water with good pressure. I had no complaints for a one-night budget stay. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the desk chair and nightstands looked new. The bedside lamps even have built-in 120v outlets for charging, a nice little detail from Super 8 Terre Haute. The front desk lady was friendly and check-in was quick. There was plenty of parking for a truck and trailer. The hotel seems to be partly remodeling, and some of the lot was being resurfaced. Super 8 is budget lodging, so your mileage may vary.
