Holiday Inn New Orleans West Bank Tower by IHG

Pennie really is a gem and an asset to the hotel. She found us a great third-party shuttle to the port for our cruise, and we arranged a pickup with them when we returned to NOLA. The only real problem was the traffic noise in our room. After a 12-hour drive, we needed sleep and got none, with the noise sounding like a racetrack. Aside from that, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The little restaurant next door was okay.

The front desk woman, whose name I didn’t get, was fantastic. She was friendly, had great energy, asked all the right questions, and checked that we were fine with our two rooms being on separate floors. We were. The bed felt springy at first, but it was firm enough for my bad back and comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. The bright green smoke detector light directly above us did disturb my sleep, though. The hotel is older, and both our rooms and the halls smelled musty. We were only there to sleep, so we could live with that. Getting there was easy, which mattered when we were tired, but our room faced the freeway and was very loud unless the AC was running. Motorcycles going by late at night were the loudest. I like motorcycles, just not when I’m trying to sleep. Would I stay again? Maybe, though I’d look around first. For the price, it’s understandable, but it’s an older Holiday Inn, not a new IHG.

We’ve stayed here twice, once in a large king room and once in a standard king, and both were very nice. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the beds are super comfortable. The walk-in showers were upgraded and had great water pressure. Staff are always so nice. It’s easy to get onto the highway, parking is free, and the French Quarter is about ten minutes away. This is definitely where we stay when we’re in the area.

The breakfast and dinner I had were amazing, and I’m looking forward to staying again. The front desk women are nice, though the guy working this morning acted like I was bothering him. I also asked for a wake-up call and never got it, and one of the plugs is pulling out of the wall.
