The checkout clerk was terrific, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The room was clean, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The check-in clerk was pleasant too, though staff may need more training on procedures, or the owners may need to improve the processes they give them. The room itself wasn’t ready for guests. There was no outlet in the kitchenette, and the only outlet in the sleeping and desk area was above the bed, leaving the desk without power. The bedside table was unstable, with one short leg, and there was no lamp, so turning the light on or off meant getting up and walking to the door. There was no blanket, just a thin cotton bedspread, even though I stayed in December. The kitchenette had an oven and stovetop but no pots or pans, only a broiler pan. There was no microwave, toaster, oven mitt, dishcloth, towel, or cooking utensil. Under the sink were one plastic plate, one plastic fork, and one plastic knife, alongside a large dead roach in the corner. The bathroom had no toilet paper holder. Lobby coffee wasn’t available until 8 a.m., which didn’t help early risers or people leaving early. I had an electric kettle and made instant coffee by the bathroom sink because there was no kitchenette outlet. The new vinyl floor was lifting between the dresser and bed, and a clip was needed to close the gap between the curtains. The owners had spent a lot on attractive remodeling, but the design and follow-through were careless. Those inconveniences outweighed the good points, and I wouldn’t stay again.

I was in building C for a weekend and had a good stay. The room was clean and everything worked. It came with a fridge, stove, and sink. If you plan to use the oven, bring mittens: I only had fries to cook, so I used towels and it was quick and no big deal. The staff got me settled in about five minutes and were helpful. Noise wasn’t too bad. I could hear people at night, but it didn’t get too rowdy and quieted down at a decent time. The location was convenient, with Applebees and Mc Donald’s within walking distance. This was my own experience on that weekend, and I’d stay again if I needed to. I enjoyed my first visit to Texarkana. Hope this helps 🙂

The staff were among the best I’ve dealt with, and when I asked to move rooms because of bugs, they handled it professionally, arranged a room change, and did a detailed clean. They took my feedback well, even though I had a lot of requests. The rooms were still weak, though, and cleaning needs to improve a lot. My first room had dead crickets and a dead palmetto bug; the next had dead crickets too. Bugs are common in the South, I understand, but I don’t think I’ve ever found them in a hotel room before. The outside of the building looks run down, with cracks and crevices that seem likely to make bug problems worse. The AC filter was caked in dust, so I cleaned it myself because I have a bad dust allergy. The kitchenette setup didn’t work for me without a microwave. I brought canned soups and microwave meals to avoid spending on food, but couldn’t eat them and had to go out instead. The room lighting was also unpleasant: one very bright overhead group of lights that couldn’t be switched on individually, rather than separate lamps. The color scheme was bland, and the buckling linoleum looked like it would be impossible to clean. There were other basic problems. The end table should be on the outlet side of the bed and have a lamp; I moved it there myself, but there should be lamps and tables on both sides. The shower was uncomfortable, with a thin, unattractive curtain that barely covered it and nowhere to put toiletries. I cleared the towel rack and had to reach through the curtain for my things. I couldn’t actually take a shower because there was no hot water. A huge hair that wasn’t mine also fell out of a supposedly clean towel. The bathroom has no tub, which doesn’t bother me much, but the shower setup was poor. Service was top tier, but the room was such a letdown that I can see why I gave it two stars, and maybe it deserved only one.

The mattress was the worst part by far. I could feel every coil pressing into my ribs, and I finally got up and left at 2 a.m. The room was clean, to be fair, but it felt like an old, run-down Travelodge with fresh paint and a few upgrades, nowhere near Wyndham quality. There was chipped paint and shoddy construction, and the bed was a double rather than the standard queen, even though the headboard was queen-sized. The window curtain was too small, so people could see in. A piece of rebar stuck out of a concrete parking stop, and someone had left food in the fridge. I booked based on good reviews and the Wyndham name, but both gave me the wrong impression.

The room had been remodeled, which was the one nice thing, but it wasn’t worth $80 and we won’t return or recommend the hotel. I’d booked a smoking room online, but the desk said they no longer have smoking rooms. We also called because the TV didn’t work, and the front desk woman said there was no cable or local stations, despite what the online amenities said. They told us the downstairs room we’d reserved had already been rented, so they took $10 off. To reach the two-story room we got, we had to cross a sketchy balcony. None of the amenities listed online turned out to be true.
