For two nights over Memorial Day weekend, this was $280 on booking.com, while other places wanted over $600 or were booked. I'm not familiar with the West Chester area, and figured a motel would be cheaper than a hotel, so I thought I'd found a deal. I nearly passed out when I saw the room. It was filthy from floor to ceiling, and the approach looked like a backwoods hill in West Virginia. The “residents” were all outside. There was a quarter roll of toilet paper, only battered pillows after I asked the office for two more, and no fitted sheet. They'd put two flat sheets on the bed that didn't fit, and the stained, nasty bedspread went straight to the foot of the bed. I asked about free Wi-Fi and was told there wasn't a password, but there actually was one. No menus were available for ordering food. We had no hot water for about an hour while a plumber flushed the pipes. I was told to let the water run and that black soot would come out at first, then stop. The tiny bathroom had an old, unsealed exhaust fan covered in dirt and cobwebs. I can't understand how the Health Department hasn't shut the place down. Cleanliness was my biggest issue, and this was nowhere near worth $280. I'll contact booking.com. Avoid it if you can. Never again. It needs to be shut down and remodeled.

We went on Sunday, March 1, 2026, my husband and I, and the place was so dirty. When I turned on the shower, no water came out. I told the man at reception who booked us, I assume he's the owner. He shouted that we shouldn't worry about the shower and should just sleep. I said we needed to shower. I also told him there were menstrual stains on the sheets and chair, and he kept shouting things that didn't make sense, then said to leave if we didn't want to stay. We called the police, hoping they'd help make things right, but they said it was a civil matter and they couldn't get involved. I think the health department should do something. Please see the attached photos of the dirt in the room. This place isn't fit to accommodate people, and they don't clean the rooms.

The staff were especially helpful whenever we needed anything, and for under $100 a night, the Sentinel Motel felt like a fantastic deal. Our room was clean and well kept, with a useful work desk. The appliances weren't top of the line, but everything worked. The bathroom was classic and basic, though clean and fully functional. I'd put the actual rating around 4 to 4.5 stars. Since other reviews are negative, I'm giving it five stars for the value. I'd stay again.

We booked two nights but could only manage one, and even that was just to sleep. The room and sheets were dirty, so we had to ask for clean sheets. The bathroom door was broken, the tap water smelled foul and rotten, and the towels had been washed poorly. A terrible experience. If you care about cleanliness and hygiene, I can't recommend this place.

The location is the only good thing, since that's the one reason this hotel gets more than one star. The room was nasty: one headboard was missing, the other was stained, there was no nightstand or bathroom mirror, and the bathroom door had no handle. The TV didn't work, its stand was warped, the bathtub was stained, and the water smelled like sulfur. Whoever was behind the desk, owner or manager, just smiled and nodded when told the rooms were filthy.
