The loud, dated AC unit worked well enough, but it was hard to leave on overnight. Our king room was spotless and had no lingering smell, though it felt smaller than rooms I've had at other Courtyard properties. Toiletries were basic: soap, a small lotion, a hair dryer, and an ironing board. The food was a highlight. We got avocado toast and a breakfast quesadilla, both made to order rather than reheated or frozen. The drinks are similar to Starbucks offerings, but this isn't a Starbucks location, so Starbucks rewards and gift cards don't work there. Food prices seemed normal for a hotel. Staff were attentive and polite, and the property felt clean and welcoming when we arrived. For a short visit it did the job, and I'd consider coming back when I'm in town.

The room was just okay, but the bed sank a lot when we lay down and was really uncomfortable. The AC also shut itself off after about an hour, so we had to keep turning it back on. I'd paid for breakfast with the stay expecting a buffet, then found out it was à la carte. We ordered eggs, pancakes, and French toast, and it was the worst food ever. Neither the stay nor the food was worth the money. I wouldn't have booked if it hadn't been a Marriot. I didn't expect this from such a big company.

We keep choosing this Courtyard by Marriott Thousand Oaks Ventura County whenever we visit family, and we've been coming for years. It's our “home-away-from-home.” The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I like having different pillow options in the room. There are good restaurants within walking distance: Holdren’s for fine dining, Spumoni for authentic Italian, Chili’s, a sushi place, and In-N-Out Burger.

We woke up to a flooded room and about an inch of water through the hallway. The video shows us wading out to escape. We weren't told anything about the problem, and the only response we saw from staff was a wet floor sign in the lobby. Marriott's Bonvoy webapp gives no way to send feedback, so I'm posting here. When it's not raining, the hotel is otherwise nice, which earns it one extra star. Don't stay here when it rains.

We loved the stay and the careful attention to detail. The service was excellent, and I only wish we'd had a little more time there. Thanks again, Marriott, for the wonderful hospitality.
