Rio Sierra Riverhouse

I’ve been staying here on and off since my first visit to Sequoia National park in 2018, with both friends and family, and it’s been top-notch every time. The owner Mars is super helpful and friendly, communicates exceptionally well, and is always available when you need help. The rooms are well kept, and each has its own decor and appeal. Over the years I’ve stayed in a smaller studio room, the Master Suite, and Birdwatch cottage. As long as this place is open, I can honestly say I won’t stay anywhere else. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sequoia. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed. One thing to keep in mind for balance: some rooms have a 2x night minimum and require a 1x night deposit in advance. If you’re unsure about your visit or don’t have firm plans, you may want to consider staying here another time.

The setting is what stays with me most: a beautiful sandy stretch beside the river, with water rushing over huge flat rocks before calming into a spot you can swim. We could see the mountains behind it, and even spotted horses grazing. There are flowers all over the grounds, and plenty of places to sit, with tables, umbrellas and beach chairs. Our private balcony was another lovely place to take it all in. We stayed in the Master Suite. The bed was comfortable and the big bathroom was a treat. Mars was also easy to reach, and communication was quick and thorough, which put us at ease about arriving somewhere unfamiliar. It felt like stepping into a magical little world. We won't forget this stay.

The staff were kind and had useful advice about the area. They also gave us an info sheet with helpful local tips. The river is just a few steps away, and we had a great stay. I'd happily come back.

We spent three days here while visiting sequoia national park, and the stay felt like a vacation of its own. The river and landscape were wonderful, and the furniture was fun as well as functional. Everything was very clean. Thanks for accommodating our early arrival. We'll definitely return.
