DoubleTree by Hilton Tinton Falls - Eatontown

My room had a few maintenance issues. The toilet seat was loose, and though I tightened one side, the other stayed loose. The toilet wouldn’t flush at first, but I got it working by adding water through the tank filler. The safe was still locked from the previous guest. I reported all of this to the front desk and wasn’t offered any compensation for the trouble.

Our hockey tournament was canceled during Winter Storm Fern, and we had to head home after states of emergency were declared along the East Coast. I have written proof of the cancellation. We didn’t use the room on 1/24/26, and no one went into it, but the hotel has refused to refund that night. I told them at check-in that the storm might force a change. They said I’d need to contact Hilton because I had prepaid and Hilton paid the hotel directly. Hilton told me the hotel had already been paid and would have to issue the refund. I checked out in the app on Saturday. When I tried to chat on Sunday, I was told no front desk person was available. On Monday, Hilton said the hotel needed to check whether the room had been used. We were already gone, and I have evidence of that, including EZ pass tolls paid late Saturday night, 1/24/26. They said they’d call me back Monday. It’s Thursday now and I still haven’t heard anything. I’ve disputed the charge with my credit card. We would have stayed if the tournament hadn’t been canceled, but with the roads restricted to essential vehicles after midnight on 1/25/2026, we had to leave. We’re Hilton GOLD members, and it’s outrageous to keep our hard-earned money for a room nobody used. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL. They are NOT customer friendly. Terrible.

The room was roomy and modern, and the Peloton in it was a fun surprise. We were also upgraded to a suite, which gave our family more space. Our teen used the pull-out couch, though that bed wasn’t comfortable. The bathroom is quite small, and its low toilet could be difficult for an older person or someone with mobility concerns. The location made it easy to get around Eatontown, NJ, and the staff were kind, helpful, and professional from the start. Their communication was excellent throughout. We had a five-star stay and really appreciated the service and quality.

The Gingerbread Ball was a lovely evening, and it felt even more meaningful knowing the proceeds went to the Fisher House Foundation. Everyone was up dancing to the Jazz Lobsters, and the food was a real highlight, especially the cocktail hour spread and dinner choices like ginger-infused salmon. The DoubleTree by Hilton Tinton Falls is a beautiful venue with a great atmosphere.
