Best Western Tomah Hotel

Perkins next door was a nice perk since their breakfast is always good. The room was roomy and quiet, and clean enough, and the staff were friendly enough, but a few things would keep me from coming back. The bed was stiff and my back hurt most of the night. The blankets were thin, with no extra one in the room, so I ended up too hot and too cold. The heater had no constant fan setting: at 70 on heat, the room climbed to 83, while fan-only brought it down to 64. There was no bathroom fan either, so there wasn't much privacy because you could hear everything. In the morning, the coffee maker still had a used pod in it and wouldn't turn on. I also really dislike hotel chains pushing employees to sign guests up for rewards programs. Staff shouldn't have to worry about their jobs or performance if they can't meet enrollment targets. I choose hotels based on price and location, and I'm tired of being asked to join programs or download apps. I'm done signing up.

The motel's zero-star manager Lindsey seems to be packed into shipping containers on the side. After I left an honest negative review, she emailed to say she wanted us to find somewhere else to stay when we're in the Tomah area and wouldn't honor any future reservations. She thought my review was meant to tear the motel apart. Looks like she managed that herself.

I usually come with a LARGE group, and they handle us really well. The rooms are clean and maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there's a great bar plus a Perkins on site. Guests get a breakfast voucher for Perkins, good until 10 am. A solid place to stay.

I should've written this earlier, but it's never too late. For almost a year, I've stayed at this Best Western several times a month, off and on, and I can't find anything to complain about. It's clean and comfortable, and the whole staff goes above and beyond. Lindsey, the general manager, is a real gem. She's kind, caring, compassionate, and incredibly professional. I've traveled all over the US, and this is the most attentive hotel I've stayed at. Lindsey sets that example for everyone. She gives me peace of mind knowing I always have somewhere to stay when I visit my husband at the VA here. I'd recommend the place to anyone, five stars across the board and ten for Lindsey. She's truly the best and a real asset to the hotel.
