Express Inn Tomball

I love this place nearly as much as my home in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where the neighbors are great and a dollar goes a long way. If I’m ever away from there and within 200 miles of the Express Inn, I’ll stay here. The pool was clean, and the laundry was open, easy to use, and cheap. Ice, pop, towels, and other things were available too. My room was worth the wait. When I arrived from Oklahoma, A.j. at the front desk apologized and said it would be about 15 minutes before it was ready. Another group was waiting as well, and everyone was understanding. The maids were working hard to clean the rooms, and I could see they take pride in the place. A.j. could have rushed them to get us in on time, but he chose to wait rather than rent out rooms that weren’t ready. His genuine personality sold me. I later met the owners, who were just as cordial. Book a room and tip a j. You can thank me later.

We arrived from Fort Worth late on our way to Magnolia for a memorial service, after the real hotels had filled up. We were glad to find a room, but now I understand why there were so many spaces available. It was $70 on a Friday, which might suit someone looking for a one-hour rental, but we saw people doing drug transactions above our floor. The room had a postmodern 70s look and a hot tub, with cigarette burns on the bedspread. It also smelled strongly of Fabuloso when we walked in. Checkout was at 11:30, and they kindly extended it to 12:30. My wife still needed more time to get ready for the funeral, so I asked for another extension. They gave us an hour for $45, about 60% of a full night, and said they’d bring a hair dryer down. No hair dryer showed up. We may need shots after this one. Other than that, all good.

I’m here for the Renaissance festival and would happily come back next year. The location is great, and the area feels safe. The room was spacious and clean, and the front desk staff were the nicest I’ve ever dealt with. Thanks again!

The man at the front desk was nice, but I’m disappointed with Tomball Inn. We’d booked well in advance and called to confirm a late check-in after our event. Then, five minutes before we arrived, they canceled, citing plumbing problems. I understand plumbing issues can happen, but every nearby hotel was full for the event, and we couldn’t find another room. They didn’t suggest other areas, so we spent half the night searching while out of state. They also didn’t confirm the cancellation properly, and getting my refund sorted out was a hassle. With my money tied up at a hotel we couldn’t use, finding an affordable last-minute room was even harder.
