The staff were wonderful about answering questions and dealing with concerns, and the room was clean and comfortable, though a little dated. I’ve stayed loyal to Choice and IHG hotel chains for as long as I can remember. They were the chain my family used on summer vacations, so this place carries a family connection for me. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family after this stay. I booked one night specifically because a hot tub was listed on site, and I’d been looking forward to relaxing by the pool. Instead, the pool area looked poorly maintained: air conditioners were falling apart, wall siding was coming loose, mildew smelled strong from both the pool and hot tubs, and the pool liners were peeling with tiles missing. The hot tub jets made a noise like a shop vac forcing air through them. There were smaller room problems too. Although it was clean, the couch beside the bed was stained, the bathroom door wouldn’t latch, and pinholes in the curtains let sunlight through as random dots in the morning. My biggest frustration was being charged for the room before checking in, on the day of the reservation, without anyone asking for consent. I’ve never had a hotel do that before. The staff explained at check-in that I wouldn’t be charged twice and that things were okay, but this Quality Inn didn’t feel “quality,” even for a budget hotel.

The desk attendant apologized for the room and waived the dog fee, saying the hotel was going to remodel. The owner still charged us that fee and refused to refund it, with no real discussion. The attendant said she’d note our complaints and that next time they’d put us upstairs, where the rooms must be in better shape. We’d stayed here several times before, but no more. It was the dirtiest, least appealing room we’ve ever had. Mold ran along the bathtub edge, the carpet was so bad our dogs wouldn’t lie on it, and carpet was even peeling off the walls. One of the door locks was completely broken. The place has really gone downhill. Beware, stay somewhere else.

There was barely any hot water, just lukewarm at best, and the noise from above made it hard to sleep. A group of female athletes were staying upstairs, likely having some play time, and it was very noisy. Someone also kept propping open the outside door at the end of our hallway, where the key reader didn’t work. I’d close it when going to our vehicle, then find it open again with a rock holding it. The hotel may not be at fault for that, but it was unsettling. The room seemed okay, though it had that cleaning smell that made me wonder if something was being covered up. The hallway carpet was stained in many spots. Mattresses were so-so, I’ve had better and worse. Breakfast was average. These were average accommodations, and I wouldn’t put this place on my list to revisit.

Candace at the desk was really helpful after our 12-hour drive and made the stay a great experience. It’s a good hotel for the price, so I can’t complain about what we paid. We’ll stay again on the way back home.

When we first checked in, the service was great. The room smelled musty, the second door lock was badly broken, and the carpet was dingy and torn. We left to get a few things, and after speaking with Choice customer service, they told us to talk to the front desk. The desk attendant got upset that we hadn’t told her right away. We were getting ready for bed when my husband noticed the carpet was wet. Apparently a pipe had burst in the room next door, and only then were we moved. Something was clearly wrong with that room. I itched the whole time we were there. Nothing about the new room.
