Ramada by Wyndham Torrance

The rooms were clean, and having a microwave and fridge was handy. There’s parking, the staff are friendly, and the pool and hot tub looked inviting. The hot tub did seem heavily chlorinated, though, and towels weren’t always set out. When they were available, they were rolled up on the chairs. The entrance is around back and confusing, with no sign to point you there. The location works well, with shops and food nearby. The Chinese food on site was a real find, too. Our bed was extremely hard and squeaked whenever we moved. We asked for extra blankets and used them as a topper. They’re polyester, but I was glad the sheets were cotton. The walls are thin enough that you can hear the TVs next door. The decor feels stuck in the early 2000s, and the rooms could use an update: scuffed walls, mismatched light bulb colors, and tiny towels in both the bathroom and pool area. The landscapers started around 9 a.m.; hedge trimming that early made it hard to sleep in and could wait until 10. I’d stay again now that I know what to bring to make the room more comfortable. These seem like fairly easy fixes, especially since there aren’t many other chain hotels in the area.

The staff we dealt with were all kind and very helpful. The hotel was good quality and did the job, though there’s nothing fancy about it. I only wish it were a little closer to the Carnival pier. A shuttle would have been nice, but that’s how it is.

The shower was my favorite part. I’m tall, and the water came down over me the way I haven’t managed to get my own shower to do. I’d come back if I’m in the area again. The room was very clean, though clearly worn, and the website photos were accurate about its size and appearance. Staff were pleasant and helpful. There are several conveniences nearby, and it’s easy to get to the metro. The air conditioner was loud, but since I usually sleep with a fan, that worked out fine. Based on the reviews and Google Maps, I had expected worse, so I wasn’t disappointed.

I’ve stayed regularly at this Ramada for months and am a Wyndham Diamond member. My room was entered without my permission, and more than $1,000 worth of personal property was taken. Surveillance showed someone entering the room, but manager Nicole immediately blamed me, saying my key card had been used. I disputed that: I had both key cards with me and returned them to the front desk after finding the theft. I had to file a police report to protect myself. The police report was filed, and still there was no accommodation or refund. Nicole handled it rigidly and dismissively, without empathy or accountability, especially toward a long-term Diamond member. No reasonable investigation was offered. Guest safety and loyalty clearly aren’t priorities here. I won’t return.
