Just outside Torrey and very close to Capitol Reef, this place is a gem for anyone visiting the park. It has only six rooms, but our room was large, with a small porch on the second floor in the Sagebrush room. We could step outside to watch the stars at night and the sunrise. The bed was the most comfortable one we slept in on the trip. Each morning brought a homemade breakfast. There’s also a hot tub for guests in the back, though we didn’t use it. The local owner is available and knows the area well. They also run an onsite travel company that books ATV, fishing, and other expeditions. I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Our Juniper room had a private deck, an oversized walk-in shower, full amenities, and coffee and tea service right outside the door. The breakfasts were delicious, including the gluten-free version for one person in our group. Shawn was often around to chat and share information and recommendations. The location was great, near the general store in Torrey, restaurants, and Capitol Reef, but not too close. We had a really great experience and would stay again if we’re in the area.

Breakfast was just right for us all three mornings, with plenty of fresh, homemade food. Shawn, the host, was easy to talk to and knew the area well. He suggested a fun canyon hike off the beaten path in Capital Reef, helped us make the most of our time, and runs Capital Reef Outfitters, through which we went fishing and on ATVs. Both experiences were great. We’d definitely stay here again. We didn’t take pictures of the property. Our family of five had the entire top floor: one king bed, two queen beds, one single bed, and a full bathroom. It was a bit warm, and without window coverings the sunrise woke us quite early. That was fine for us, though our teenagers were a bit inconvenienced, their problem. The location was super, the Town of Torrey was charming, and the views were beautiful. It was hectic when we arrived, with tours finishing and other guests returning. We never got a formal introduction, so we felt we were winging it a little. Thankfully, we figured out the breakfast system and how things worked without much stress.

Shawn, the owner, was really nice, and Skyridge Inn was a nice change from another nondescript chain hotel near Capitol Reef National Park. I gave it five stars. He also runs Capitol Reef outfitters, which I’ll review separately. We’d booked a self-drive, paid ATV tour, but when I noticed our stay included a complimentary tour, Shawn honored it, refunded the paid tour, and took us on a wild, fun, beautiful sunset ride into the mesa above Capitol Reef. It was one of the vacation highlights. We stayed in the Cedar room, which I think is one of the smallest, probably the only one available when I booked. It was fine. Breakfast was very good, with really crispy bacon, fresh fruit, and eggs or french toast. Check-in and scheduling breakfast and hot tub use were hands-free, which was fine too. The first day we got back to our room a little late and asked housekeeping to return in 15 minutes to do what he needed, but he never came back. Otherwise, it was a perfectly nice owner operated place, and the two cats on the grounds were adorable.

The windows have the best view. If you want to watch the sunrise from a warm room, this is the place. What a lovely inn and a nice surprise. Shawn is super nice!
