Royal Inn Torrington

The owner let all nine of us share a double-bed room with a small kitchenette to help keep costs down, and late checkout was available. We're a touring group of eight female performers, and our bus had problems just outside the berkshires while uninsured. After we got back on the road, we were worn out from the cold and still had a limited budget after spending a lot on the bus. Ownership welcomed us warmly and helped with our luggage. In our original room, with two double beds, our head dancer Priscilla was attacked by a feral coyote that somehow came in through the bathroom window. She's stable and being treated at nearby Torrington hospital. The owner generously gave us 50% off the room for this minor occurrence. The hotel has all the amenities and more. Thank you!

The woman at the desk was nice, and the bed was pretty good, but after six nights here we won't make the same mistake again. I'm allergic to smoke, and people upstairs smoked so much that it came into our room and bathroom. I spent part of the stay wearing a mask. The place is old and needs a lot of work, and it's barely passable. A lot of people down on their luck live there. The couch in room 15 was disgusting and unusable, and the old bedding was so bad we brought our own sheets and pillows. There aren't many hotels to choose from, but once the room is paid for, you don't get your money back if you decide to leave.

I rented a room for $400 a week, then they decided to move me because of construction. They were loud all day and disturbed my spouse and me. I'm really irritated with Royal inn and won't come back. I found plenty of other places, but hadn't settled on one yet. My spouse had chosen this place, and I didn't realize how inconvenient it would be. Don't waste your money here.

A family member stayed here, and the place was nasty, with a mold smell as soon as you walked in. She paid $300 a week, but they never cleaned her room, and the floors were gross. I'm pretty sure she had black mold in the room. Her door didn't even lock. Some hallway sections have the under-carpet liner exposed with no carpet over it. I'd rather sleep outside in the park. It's cleaner. Don't stay here, it's a dump.
