The price was really good, and we had a great stay at Royal Motel Tracy. The room was clean, nice, and comfortable, especially the bed. The staff were kind and helpful. Thanks to everyone in management and on staff. I'll recommend the place to friends or family, and we'll be back soon. Five stars. 😁👍🏽

The room smelled strongly stale as soon as I walked in. There were blood stains on the wall, burn holes in the comforter, broken curtains, and no sign the room had been cleaned recently. I also had no clean towels, and my key card didn't work, leaving me locked out. People I found suspicious and sketchy were hanging around right outside my window. I didn't feel safe or comfortable enough to stay in the room. I spent the whole night awake and on edge, afraid something might happen. This was far below the basic standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality I paid for.

We stayed one day, and then, because of logistics, I tried to arrange an extension while I wasn't there. My friend asked and was quoted a price. When I arrived, the owner changed it from what we'd agreed. I brought my friend over, and the owner then didn't know he was my friend. When I asked why the price had changed, he had no answer. The management is showing racism, which is extremely appalling and unacceptable. I've never seen such an appalling attitude. The showers had no hot water, and there was hair left in them from the previous resident.

That Tracy motel has stayed in my family's stories as the worst place we ever slept, even after 18 years. My mother, my young child, and I had planned to stay elsewhere on a long road trip, but a snow closure on I-5 in Weed wrecked those plans. We reached Tracy around 11 at night, exhausted and unfamiliar with the town. We saw a vacancy sign and pulled in. I'm an intrepid traveler who can sleep just about anywhere. I'm not fancy and don't usually avoid humble motels, but this one felt sketchy as hell. We passed people who looked like long-term tenants, smoking on the dark sidewalk and muttering about two women being there alone with a little kid. The room was gross, with weird hairs in the shower and bad, horror-movie vibes. I dragged the table against the front door, sure we'd either die overnight or find the car stolen in the morning. I clipped the curtains shut with bobby pins and persuaded my family to sleep fully clothed. No one was going to undress in that place. While my mother and child slept, I kept watch fitfully, nodding off and jolting awake whenever people went by the window. There was a stray cough at 4 a.m., then someone chuckling. By 5 a.m. I woke everyone and suggested we hit the road again. Maybe I was exhausted or paranoid, but that's how bad it felt. Good luck, folks.
