Even in the dead of winter, we had a great beachside stay. The room was a nice size, with a kitchenette, a private toilet room, and a balcony overlooking the bay. The floor-to-ceiling window facing the parking lot was odd, and the TV setup wasn’t very good, though you don’t go on vacation to watch TV. I imagine the place would be amazing in summer.

It’s quiet and the view is nice, but my partner and I agreed we wouldn’t return. The room seemed very outdated, with marks on the walls, cheap curtain rods that just rested against the wall, and a bathroom fan in the toilet room instead of by the shower and jacuzzi. The mini fridge worked but wasn’t very cold, the TV looked an odd color so we left it off, there was no balcony lock or stick, and the shampoo and body wash came in the same tube. The jacuzzi tub worked and the water pressure was good, and the air conditioner worked too. We arrived late and went straight back out after dropping our things. When we later went to settle in, we noticed part of the bed frame looked wrong. Many legs weren’t attached properly, which felt like a scam. We put the legs on and slept on the rough pullout bed instead. There seemed to be just one employee, who was very stiff and tried to talk with us whenever we saw them, regardless of the hour. I know they may have meant well, but it started to make me uncomfortable. We also skipped breakfast after seeing the area when we entered. It looked more like linen covered storage in the lobby than a breakfast space.

We visited in mid-April during the off season, and the room was decent. The staff were nice. In our ground-floor room, the “patio” was barely wide enough for a chair. The pool was covered, but there was a lot of trash floating in the standing water on top of the cover. The baseboard heaters had exposed fins and wiring because their covers were missing, though that wasn’t a big deal. I imagine it’s nicer once the summer prices start.

We spent $346 for two nights and barely slept, which made this a miserable choice for a relaxing Valentine's getaway. The walls and floors seem thin, so light sleepers should avoid it. We were in room 117, and the people above us were incredibly loud both nights. Friday they fought, slammed doors, and stomped around. Saturday there was heavy pacing, furniture moving, and noise from about 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. They smoked on the balcony, too. There was no night staff to complain to. The bed was comfortable, but the rooms were cold and only had a thin sheet and blanket. The older property needs a lot of updating: the baseboards were disgusting, the shower wasn't clean, its showerhead was useless, and the floors were dirty as soon as we walked in. I certainly won't stay here again.

The location is convenient for local attractions but still feels peaceful and private, and the views are beautiful. The staff were so friendly and accommodating from the moment I arrived. My room was spotless, well maintained, comfortable, and relaxing. I had a wonderful stay at Points North Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place and lovely hospitality. I look forward to visiting traverse City again and staying here.
