Best Western Troy Hotel

The location is good, with restaurants nearby, and there was a fridge and microwave in the room. Staff were friendly and the breakfast bar was decent. The motel is a bit rundown, though not too bad. Cleanliness was a real problem. Trash from the previous guest was still in the room, there was mold in the toilet, and the seat and lid had splashes and hairs on them. The towels looked dingy. I can only imagine how long it's been since the bed covers were washed.

The workers were very friendly, but the place was a mess. My kids said the outside looked like a haunted house. Construction had shut down half the inside and made everything smell. Our room wasn't clean either: spider webs in a corner, stains on the walls, a missing bathroom light cover, and someone's old soap left on the shower ledge. The carpet didn't look properly vacuumed, the fridge was dirty, and the space next to it was filthy with dust. Housekeeping never came once during our three-night stay. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I'm a frequent BW guest, and after seeing the dust under the mattresses and about 1/2" behind the headboards, I was worried about bed bugs. There was also someone's dirty sock under the bed, and it looked like the place hadn't been dusted in years. The desk clerk was nice, but the room absolutely stunk. I told the desk man I was leaving and drove 20 miles to another Best Western Plus, which was clean and well kept. I hope they didn't charge me, that would add insult to injury.

The staff were fantastic, helpful, and hospitable, and our room was really spacious. Breakfast was okay, though the coffee wasn't impressive. It was good value, but the facility needs updating. The outside looks under construction, and the bathrooms inside are tired and need a makeover.
