Hotel Indigo Detroit North - Troy by IHG

The hotel has been nicely remodeled, and the rooms smelled pleasant. I loved the pool, especially the lights that change colors. It’s meant to be heated, though I found it a little cool, still bearable. The beds were comfortable, the mini fridge was a good size, and I liked having a bidet. The shower itself was roomy, but a black screw-like piece kept popping out, and there was nowhere convenient to set soap, other body products, or a washcloth. I booked two rooms for two nights for my birthday with friends and family. There were about eight of us visiting, though only three planned to sleep there. As people arrived, staff repeatedly questioned whether they were staying or just visiting. My sister’s bag was checked because they said parties weren’t allowed and seemed to be looking for decorations. They also called the room to ask how many people were there and asked a few other intrusive questions. There was no microwave in either the room or the hotel for guests to use. On the second day, I asked for towels around 9:30 in the morning, left about noon, and found none in the room when I returned around 4:30. I was granted a late checkout, but then all my keys stopped working. Replacing them didn’t fix it, which was frustrating as I was coming and going.

The room was clean and updated, and the seasonal decorations were really cute. At checkout, Sandy and Sherry were so welcoming. The night before, the two people at the desk were sweet too, and the man even brought extra towels up when our hands were full. I wish I’d caught his name. The hospitality was lovely. I’d gladly stay again and recommend the hotel.

We’ve traveled more over the past two years than ever before, and the staff here were the best we’ve come across. They made us feel like friends visiting their home, and we really appreciated that. Kaylynn (sp?) was smiling and sweet as soon as we arrived, and her knowledge of the area was a big help. Miranda was just as warm. She seemed to talk with every guest, including people in the restaurant while we walked to and from the pool, which was great too. My husband couldn’t find his preferred creamer in the room, so he asked the bartender about alternatives. She managed to get the one he wanted, even with his picky coffee habits. Nicole made checkout easy in the early morning, with a friendly smile.

We first stayed here a couple of times while construction was going on, and the service was great even then. We live an hour away and came back now that the work is finished, since I had four doctor appointments nearby. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly. I’m not good at remembering names, but everyone we met was kind and professional. The rooms are spotless and beautifully finished. The pool was clean and didn’t have a chlorine smell. The toilet has a heated seat and a bidet. The food was delicious, and the Manager/Owner was friendly and made sure we had what we needed. I even took videos, though I wish I knew how to post them. If we need a hotel in the area again, this is where we’ll stay.
