SpringHill Suites by Marriott Tuckahoe Westchester County

The rooms were very clean, and housekeeping was extremely helpful. I appreciated the accommodations for my long stay in many ways, but I never got a hot shower, not once. I contacted the front desk repeatedly and was told engineering had fixed the problem, but it hadn’t been resolved. That was a major issue for me. A long hot shower is how I decompress and find some peace in my daily routine, so three stars is the most I can give.

Our room was spacious, and the hotel is convenient if you’re driving, with plenty of free parking on site. It’s also not too far from NY. The AC was broken and blew strong air that we couldn’t stop. A technician could come the next day, but we were only there for one night. Breakfast is free, though the room for it is too small for the number of people, so guests have to eat outside or take food back to their rooms. Apart from those two problems, the hotel was good in general.

The rooms were nice, and breakfast was delicious. It’s a lovely, inexpensive place, close to NYC. We’d driven in from mass and arrived late in the evening, apparently leaving a lululemon shopping bag in the lobby. We only noticed the next morning while packing to head home. At the front desk, Chavun (spelling, sorry? ) took my number and said she’d try to track it down. She apparently reached the people from the night before, and someone, I’m sure from their staff, had turned it in to lost and found. As we checked out, Chauvaun called to say she’d found it for us. Wonderful stay!

The room was comfortable for the price, and especially the shower was nice. I’ve been here for five days because my family, who I usually stay with over the holidays, are having their apartment painted. I’m still staying my last night, but wouldn’t recommend the place to people who expect to be left alone when they put out a do not disturb placard. A front desk staff member came into my room without knocking while I was in the bathroom. They said it was because I’d requested a TV repair earlier. I hadn’t made any such request, and I generally don’t watch TV. When I asked to see the ticket they claimed I’d filed, they couldn’t find one and vaguely called the entry a “mistake.” Reading between the lines, I think they just wanted to check the room for some reason. Coming in without knocking on what seems like a transparently false pretext felt scummy and disrespectful of my privacy.
