I felt cozy and safe here. People say the place is hot, but what I saw was a bunch of people living here and trying to make it. I didn’t see much crime or other bad things, just people doing their best for themselves. The hotel may not look great, and some rooms might be better than others, but I was comfortable. I lived in the city of Detroit, in the hood, for 10 years, so I don’t know if I’d recognize a bad area down here. Still, my instincts don’t lie, and I feel this place is all right.

The good things in Room 110: the A/C worked well, the beds were comfortable enough to fall asleep in, there were no bed bugs, and a Waffle House was right across the street. It was cheap, but I wouldn’t stay again. The place was run down and unclean, I guess you get what you pay for. There was chewed gum and some kind of fluid in the pictures, and a shoe print at eye level on the mirror. The carpet was so filthy it turned our socks black. The TV didn’t work, and the Wi-Fi only worked in half the room. Every lampshade was broken. The sink had no filter, so water sprayed everywhere. We booked a non-smoking room, but there were burn marks on the tub and TV stand. It was right beside a buddy liquor store, too.

It smelled bad and clearly wasn’t being looked after. We woke to gunshots from the hotel, left early, and saw caution tape and lots of police surrounding the whole building. I didn’t feel safe at all. No go.

The rooms were disgusting and there were bugs everywhere, but finding drugs was the worst part. Thank God my kids didn’t find them. They also stole our $100 deposit. It was the worst experience of my life, and you couldn’t pay me to stay there again.

The hotel itself is nice, but the internet service was bad, so I’m giving it four stars for that. Overall, it’s a nice place.
