Hotel Rose's Willcox - North Haskell Ave

The patio has a lovely sunset view, and there’s plenty of seating around the place, with chairs and ashtrays for smokers. Out back, the gazebo has barbecue grills. The beds were really comfortable, with lots and lots of pillows, and the hot shower worked well. The rooms themselves were comfortable too. The owner is second generation, and Shelly and her husband are wonderful. People in town are so nice and laid-back. If you want to avoid those highway-side rooms with hairy pillows, bugs, or dirty bathtubs, try roses motel. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

It’s quiet at night and well located for visiting the Chiricuhua National Monument or bird watching nearby. In Jan/Feb, there are thousands of sandhill cranes in the area. The rooms each have their own touches and an old-time charm, and everything was exceptionally clean. There’s a microwave and refridgerator in the room. Shelly and her husband were friendly, effective, and always around if I had questions or needed advise.

I liked the pretty back patio, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. The bed and bedding were fine, and the shower pressure was great. The room felt a bit too budget for me, though: no coffee pot, hair dryer, or mini fridge, and the tiny table would make food prep hard. More than anything, there wasn’t a sitting spot I could use, and I needed to do just a tiny bit of work. The location is fine, but the road and old heater system made it a bit noisy. I wouldn’t pay over $60 to stay here.

I slept well and really liked the motel’s relaxed ambience. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were clean and nice. They were small, but I barely spent time in mine, so that was only a minor inconvenience. I could have used another towel and washcloth.
