Being right by downtown Tucson made the location a real plus, especially since we arrived on Amtrak. The station is a short walk away, and there are restaurants and things to see nearby. We stayed two nights. The front desk mentioned the nightclub next door at check-in, which I appreciated. Its music was audible until around 2 AM, though it wasn't as bad as I'd expected after the warning. The hotel is modern and clean, with a pleasant rooftop pool area and views of the city and mountains. It was a relaxing spot to sit in the weather, and we enjoyed a drink at the lobby bar. The bartender was friendly and easy to chat with. In the room, the curtains were frustratingly hard to open, and housekeeping didn't leave enough wash rags. At checkout we found a $32-per-night valet fee, despite arriving by train and never having a car at the hotel. I had mentioned that at check-in and again when calling about the charge, but staff initially didn't accept my explanation. The manager went outside to check the valet log book, confirmed our name wasn't listed, and removed the fee. They fixed it, but getting there was frustrating. Check your bill before leaving, especially if you arrived without a vehicle. Recommended stay: 1-3 nights.

The room was the letdown. Ours cost a little extra, but looked straight onto the pool and patio rather than offering a great view. The bathroom arrangement was odd too, with the sink and mirror sharing space with the mini fridge and drink area. For the price, the value isn't there. I've spent half as much at other hotels and gotten more from the room. The staff were friendly, and the lobby and bar were quite nice. The location was convenient, but next time I'll stay elsewhere nearby for what this place charges and what you get.

The floors were especially dirty. I spilled a little water and wiped it up with a bath towel, and couldn't believe how filthy it got. The rooms were only okay otherwise, and the constant noise was awful. The hotel even supplies free earplugs, but they don't help. On the side near the gym, expect loud thuds and vibrations when weights are dropped. It's on the sixth floor, so you can hear and feel it in the room. Great location, but the noise and cleanliness made for a rough stay.

Breakfast had fresh coffee and tasty choices, and the spread was much better quality than typical hotel food. The AC Hotel was also exceptionally clean and well cared for throughout, which made me comfortable. I had a fantastic stay and would recommend it to anyone after a modern, dependable place.

The coffee and breakfast were superb, and our room was very clean. My friend and I stayed one night while visiting Tucson, and the staff were courteous, efficient, ethical, friendly, and more. Downtown shops and restaurants are within walking distance. I'd definitely stay here again on another Tucson visit.
