Sonesta ES Suites Tucson

The tennis and basketball court were a nice surprise, and both the pool and hot tub were at perfect temperatures even in the middle of winter. The staff were extra friendly, the room was very clean and spacious, and the place offers lots of amenities. For the price compared with other options nearby, it's amazing. It'll be my go-to whenever I'm in Tucson. It feels like a little home away from home.

The grounds were nice, and check-in and checkout were easy. We had a two-bedroom, two-floor suite that was decent overall, though the hotel felt a little run down for what seems like a two-star place. The breakfast was okay, but there was no ice on site for our water bottles or drinks. The TVs downstairs weren't connected properly and couldn't be used. Also, the upstairs bed backs onto a half-wall balcony that feels dangerous for small children. Keep an eye on them so they don't fall to the first floor.

The rooms are seriously outdated, with old, pitiful furnishings. The phone was badly beaten up, with long wires sticking out, the iron barely got hot, and the room smelled like a kennel. This place used to be amazing. The General Manager needs to step up before a great place goes further downhill. Please do better. Service was pleasant when we arrived, but got sad later on.

The only good part of the stay was the housekeeper who eventually came and quickly cleaned the room. She took ownership of her work. The front desk ladies seemed not to care, and whoever was meant to inspect rooms before guests arrived clearly hadn't done the job. They didn't charge us for the stay, which is why the service gets three stars instead of one. After driving ten hours through traffic, we arrived at the Sonesta at 1am. We'd called ahead to say we'd be late, but despite our reservation there was no room for us. They offered to place us for the night at a hotel they said was four times better, then have a room ready in the morning. At that other hotel, there was blood on the bedsheets. We got a different room and finally slept. The Sonesta said our room was ready next morning, but it had hair in all the beds, dirty towels and tables, and what looked like poop stains and popcorn kernels on the floor. We asked for someone to clean it. No one came for five hours, from 10:30am-3:30pm. The front desk kept saying housekeeping had been notified but needed to work down the list, while my family couldn't even relax on the beds. That other hotel with blood on the sheets really was four times better than what they offered.
