The location turned out to be a real bonus for us as tourists. Once our Tucson friends showed us around, we realized lots of the places we liked were just a 1 to 5 minute drive away. The Tucson Gem & Mineral show and the Chuck Huckelberry Loop/greenbelt are within walking distance, and the Loop is lovely for walking or biking. A Mountain, with its city views, is minutes to the west, as is MSA Annex, a fun mix of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shops in shipping containers. Downtown and Historic 4th are just north, and I-10 makes getting around the sprawling city quick. The Tuxon has a nostalgic, artsy feel that was such a nice change. They’ve turned the shell of an old-school motel into a fun stay, with redone rooms and public areas that feel nicer than what many pricier hotels offer. We loved the decor, murals, landscaping, and elegant bar/lounge and pool area. The staff were surprisingly friendly, too. We also liked the vegetation and found a small cactus garden and private outdoor walking area beside the parking lot. Keep up the excellent work!

The neighborhood isn’t the greatest, but everything else exceeded our expectations. This was one of the more pleasant surprises we’ve had in all our years of traveling. It isn’t a 5 star hotel, yet it gave us a 5 star experience. Management, staff, housekeeping, and the rest of the company’s employees should be proud of how they run the place. Highly recommend.

After a day of driving, we found this gem right off the freeway, conveniently close to downtown. The design had unique flair and unexpected quality, and the lobby and pool were cool and welcoming. Our room was cozy, the staff were extremely accommodating, and the laundry room was a nice bonus. We would have stayed another day if our trip allowed. I’d definitely stay again.

We checked in around 245 pm, but our room wasn’t ready until 4 pm. When we got in, it smelled of sewage and the bathroom door wouldn’t close, even though housekeeping seemed to have just cleaned it. Reception agreed to find us another room, but it took 45 minutes. We finally moved in around 5 pm. The room is small and unlike the rooms we’ve stayed in America so far. There’s hardly space to move around. Not a happy stay.

Amanda and the rest of the staff made this stay stand out. Her hospitality could hold its own at a 5-Star hotel, IHG should be careful or the Four Seasons or the Ritz might snap her up. The Voco Tuxon also has fresh, modern rooms that are clean and easy to get to. We liked the lobby seating and bar looking out over the pool, and the food and drinks were really tasty. It exceeded what we expected. 👍💕
