That 4.5-star Google rating is hard to believe after what we found. The room was filthy, the shower had soap residue and human hair, and the bathroom floor was sticky with hair and dead bugs. There was even a child's purple-crayon artwork on the walls. I checked the mattress and saw what you can probably guess. We grabbed our things and left immediately. The sheets and towels may have been clean, as the owner said in their reply, but nothing else was. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Blaming the state of the room on it being pet-friendly was insulting, and saying guests should expect it because the place is cheap didn't help. Yes, it's old, and the staff was nice, but the room was horrid. I didn't even ask for my money back. I later heard this “Motel” is actually low-income housing with a few motel rooms. Hard no. And those many 5/5 reviews are what first caught my eye and got me to book. I just can't believe real customers wrote them.

Crystal made checking in late at night feel easy and welcoming, especially after I'd been traveling all day. The room was cozy and the whole place looked well cared for and very clean. I also didn't expect the coffee to be so good, but it was honestly amazing. I had a great stay in October 2025 and would happily come back.

Quiet rooms, a cute place, and a great location. The people running it were really welcoming, too. Before I left in the morning, I asked Steve about my car and he was genuinely helpful. I'd stay here whenever I'm passing through.

I ended up in Tucumcari after my car broke down, and the tow truck driver sent me to Almara Inn. I'm glad he did. Steve at the front desk greeted me and was one of the kindest people I've ever met. The owners and management were understanding and professional, and the cleaning staff were excellent and polite. I missed the drink shop's opening hours, though I heard they make wonderful fresh juices. For a relaxing rest while traveling down 66, Almara Inn is hard to beat, and I expect it'll keep being a great stop in Tecumcari.

Crystal made the stay memorable. She knows the town's history, pointed me toward good places to eat, and gave me directions to hidden spots I'd never have found on my own. She really went out of her way to make things right. The motel has a lovely historic feel, and the town is well worth visiting. The price was low enough that my wife worried about the quality, but the rooms were spotless and comfortable, if a little small. The Roku TVs were a big bonus, too. We could watch everything, including Sunday Night Footbal. I rarely write reviews, but this was one of my best stays anywhere. Highly recommend.
