La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Tucumcari

After a long, exhausting drive, arriving late at night to find that a third-party booking site had messed up our reservation was stressful. The overnight staff member was so kind and helpful, working through the booking problem, arranging the two rooms we needed, and making sure our puppy was looked after. That service made a rough situation much easier. The rooms were clean and had what we needed, breakfast was great, and there was a clean pet area for our puppy to use. We finally got a good night's sleep. We're very grateful for the help we received that night.

The staff were friendly and really helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There may honestly have been more dogs than people at the hotel. That's great for us, since we have a dog! Haha.

For the price we paid, this was really disappointing. The elevators were broken, every vending machine was out of order, and one coffee spout wasn't working. Breakfast was a sad continental spread, the halls were noisy, the walls thin, and there was a wasp in our room that vanished. The hallways also had a strange chemical odor. They should use duvet covers, too. A little sheet tucked around an unwashed, thin quilt doesn't feel sanitary and isn't enough.

The staff were lovely, but the stay itself wasn't. We were on a road trip back to AZ and the chemical smell in our pet room, like the stuff used in vet offices, was overwhelming. We left at 3am, and there was no coffee or hot water for a shower.
