Super 8 by Wyndham Tucumcari

The hallway reeked of old cigarette smoke, and people kept slamming doors all night. My room was disgusting, with visible rubbish and old straw wrappers on the floor. Breakfast was horrendous, so don't stay a couple hours late just to get it.

For a quick road trip stop, the price was fair for what we got, and I'd stay again. Breakfast was good, with waffles, cereal, and eggs. Nothing fancy, but it did the job. The hotel is passable, though dated and in need of some care. We didn't find anything unsanitary. The hallways had a strong spice smell that the kids noticed, but since we were just passing through it didn't bother us much. For a weeklong stay, I'd probably look for somewhere more comfortable.

The price is hard to believe, and a one-night stay was well worth it. The beds were the best I've ever slept in, the pool was beautiful and clean, and breakfast was included with waffles in the morning. The shower was new and one of the best I've had. The floors and toilet/sink could use replacing, though. Super 8 in Tucumcari, New Mexico is amazing if you find yourself in this corner of the world.

My room was very clean, and service was great as usual during my many visits over the past four years, usually three or four days at a time. There was one frustrating incident: a front desk employee seemed upset that I hadn't said I had my little dog with me. I'd never been charged a pet fee before and didn't know there was a policy. I told her I had no problem paying, but she kept implying I'd deliberately withheld the information. It worked out in the end, but I didn't like being accused of trying to take advantage.
