Sleep Inn & Suites Tulsa Central I-44

The pool was disgusting, with things floating in it, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The hot tub wouldn’t heat and the ice machine was broken. In our room, the bathroom door was off its hinges, with screws on the floor that should’ve been spotted during cleaning, and the shower had no hot water. When I asked to move rooms, they said they couldn’t because I’d “touched” things in mine and they couldn’t give it to another reservation. I asked for maintenance to fix the shower and door, but they wouldn’t call until tomorrow, after we checked out. I’d never book here again.

The family who owns and runs this place were super friendly. The father is hilarious. I stayed three nights and give it a 10/10. The mattress was extremely comfortable, and none of the bath towels were dingy. Rooms are a good size with California King beds. Some have shower stalls, which are a smaller space, and others have a tub and shower together. Every room has a 55 inch TV on the wall with cable, a mini fridge, microwave, and little coffee maker with coffee and tea bags. There’s also a blow dryer mounted on the bathroom wall, plus an ironing board and iron in the closet. The complimentary breakfast was hearty and delicious, with oatmeal, eggs, biscuits, sausage and gravy, potatoes, sausage, and waffles you make yourself. There were also three kinds of cereal, muffins, toast, and drinks including orange juice, apple juice, milk, and coffee.

The people working here were friendly at both check-in and breakfast, and breakfast itself was fresh with plenty to choose from. But housekeeping really needs to do a better job. There were long black hairs on the bathroom floor, hair in the bed, and the previous guest's soap was still in the shower. The sheets could use replacing, and when I checked for bugs, I found a large dried booger on the mattress cover. I was too grossed out to look further and felt itchy all night, though my husband slept fine and I had no bites. Maybe it was just in my head. I honestly wondered if the room had been cleaned beyond changing towels and making the bed. I didn't complain over a one-night stay, but it makes the rest of the staff look bad. The room was claustrophobically small, including the chair. The sink was outside the bathroom, which I dislike, and the bathroom door wouldn't close. There was no ventilation in there, despite what looked like a dirty ceiling vent. The toilet didn't flush properly, and the sink drained slowly. I booked online, and seeing the neighborhood beforehand might have made me keep driving. It felt shady, with many homeless people who looked like they might be dealing with addiction. Some were on the bench at the hotel next door or coming out of the ditch across the street. Late at night, we saw what looked like a drug deal beyond the fence by the neighboring lot. I worried someone might break into our vehicle while we slept. I don't know whether there are cameras or the night employee watches the area, but no one came onto this property's grounds that I saw, and we got through the night without an incident.

The room itself was clean and nice, but it was noisy and we were disturbed several times. The deposit has also been held for all 10 days, which concerns me. I've stayed places that return it right at checkout. I'm unhappy and won't come back. I do business in Tulsa, and my in-laws live there too, but this location won't get my business or a recommendation from me, my five adult children and their spouses, my in-laws, or the rest of my family.
