Homewood Suites by Hilton Tulsa South Medical District

The staff are lovely, and the prices seem quite good. I really liked the rooms too: a kitchenette, a great layout, a good couch and desk, and nice closets. The shower was great as well. Breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve had, though I don’t stay in hotels much. Their mini scones were especially good.

I had a booking for Friday at 4 p.m., but when I arrived there was no room ready because they were waiting on housekeeping. We agreed to wait. As we came in, we noticed the housekeepers in uniform sitting in the back parking lot smoking. I asked whether they took Chime debit cards, but the staff member wasn’t sure because the manager wasn’t answering the phone. After an hour, I came back and was told they couldn’t accept the card. I was prepared to let the rest go, but the next morning they tried to charge $150 to that same card. She should have cancelled my stay. I had to find another hotel that night, and with service like this I wouldn’t try this place again.

The staff are what keep bringing me back. I’ve stayed about half a dozen times while visiting family, and they’ve all been wonderful. Desiree at the desk has been a pleasure to get to know and even helped me with something involving my mom. They went above and beyond. If you’re visiting Tulsa without a rental car, the location works well for walking and Ubering. This used to be a standard Hyatt and has recently been remodeled as an extended-stay Homewood. The rooms are small, but the layout is decent. The kitchen has a full-size fridge, two-burner stove, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and the basics, plus there’s storage under the bed for luggage. The bathroom is awkwardly small but does the job. Bring your own paper towels for the kitchen, since none are provided.

The lobby desk staff were watching TV with friends, and the front desk employees had no uniforms or name tags. That felt odd for a Hilton. Breakfast was crowded with several teams, and there wasn’t any yogurt. The place has been renovated and rebranded as a Hyatt Place, but it may need a management team to set consistent standards.
