The lobby staff were great, and the hotel still has some charm despite the outdated rooms. The beach may have artificial sand, I think, and it’s a great place to snorkel, but watch out for the triggerfish because they bite! The landscaping needs some work. Overall, a decent hotel.

😡 The room cleaning was poor. There were unused slippers under the bed, and the floor was still dirty after we asked for another cleaning. There weren’t any pool towels, or towels for our room. We left in the morning and came back later in the day with none provided. When we called, we were first told they’d be brought soon, then later told all the towels were in the laundry and we’d have to wait another hour. Nobody had told us beforehand. I was also concerned that the lifeguard was on their phone and clearly not paying attention. The cleanliness and service were unacceptable, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The club Lounge was a highlight. The food was fresh, high quality, and had plenty of healthy choices, with staff keeping it well stocked. The pool and waterslide were fun, the beach access was excellent, the location was convenient, and the breakfast buffet had a good selection. Staff across the front desk, housekeeping, food service, and pool were notably friendly and attentive. Yasufumi, the omelette chef, was especially dedicated. The rest of the experience felt at odds with the price of $200 or more a night. The water setup was inhospitable: I checked in late and tired to find the carafes empty, then had to go from the 14th floor down to the 12th for drinking water. There were no refill stations in the lobby or pool area. The gym opening at 8:00 AM also doesn’t work well for a resort. An early workout sent me between the Nikko and neighboring property, wasting time and leaving me with only 15 minutes to exercise. Another guest said their room key had worked before 8:00 AM, so the information and enforcement seemed inconsistent. The rooms looked worn, with an old stained luggage stand, dated bathroom tiles, and a mattress that felt much older than its age. Rolls and bread often ran low by 9:30 AM even though breakfast was supposed to go until 10:00. A lifeguard took a smoke break behind a cabana, and cigarette smoke drifted toward the pool and waterslide, which felt insensitive to non-smoking guests. The long breakfast lines and overwhelming atmosphere, especially on weekends, made the meal stressful rather than relaxing. Staff were scrambling to keep food stocked, and guests had to bring their own cutlery and napkins instead of finding them on the tables. Breakfast in the club Lounge on Saturday and Sunday, or on other busy days, could help, as could extending service past 10:00 AM. The policies and worn amenities made the high price feel unjustified, and this didn’t feel like a four-star stay. I regret not checking other traveler reviews first, as these policy problems seem recurring. I’ll choose different lodging next time I visit Guam.

The room had nice sustainable touches, with glass bottles and cups you could refill at water stations on the floors. The app made express check-in and check-out easy, and I used my phone as the room key, so I never went to the front desk. Very convenient. The live chat could be quicker to respond.

The balcony view was stunning, but the moldy smell and poor cleanliness made the stay feel like a cheap motel. The inside smelled damp, and the carpets and sheets felt wet. They used so much air freshener in my room that it made things worse and felt unhealthy, so I had to leave the balcony door open all night. The outside looks nice, but this was my first time at Nikki Hotel and I wouldn’t stay again despite the beautiful view.
