Holiday Inn Exp Stes Univ

We had a very comfortable, enjoyable stay over the MLK, Jr. weekend, from 1/17/26 to 1/19/26. The hotel is close to popular restaurants, entertainment, University Mall, UA (Tuscaloosa), downtown, and the highway, so we’ll definitely return with family. The lobby, lounge, and business center are nicely arranged near the front. We could have visitors join us without feeling crowded, and had some privacy as a group. There were games in the lobby, too. Breakfast had a good range of hot and cold food with plenty of toppings and condiments, and the coffee and hot water machines were available 24-7. Our family group got a warm welcome and quick, easy check-in. As IHG platinum members, we got into our rooms early and were upgraded to large suites at no extra charge. The living areas were clean, lovely, and stocked with towels and toiletries. There were fridges, microwaves, lots of cabinet storage, and a freestanding closet with plenty of hangers. Its side compartment had an ironing board and iron, plus extra bedding for the sofa sleeper if needed. I liked being able to cast my favorite shows from phone apps to the huge flat-screen TV. The lighting, decor, cleanliness, fresh fragrance, and welcoming feel impressed me as soon as we walked in. I could go on about the rooms, but you get the idea. I highly recommend this place.

Our King suite was really spacious, with a separate living area, chaise lounge, and work desk. The bathroom was nice, and everything was clean, clean, clean. The staff were friendly, check-in and checkout were efficient, and breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold options.

A day after a home football game, around 90 people were checking out, but the staff kept service running smoothly, and housekeeping was professional and courteous. I’d booked at the last minute after travel problems and called ahead. The receptionist was welcoming, and Victoria at the front desk gave me service that went above and beyond.

Quinn and Veronica were friendly and helpful, and the stay was really nice. I especially liked the fresh-baked cookies and a very useful guide to the local area. I hadn’t seen anything like it at other locations, so I think someone on staff took the initiative. It made things less stressful than relying only on Grub Hub or Google reviews. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and quiet too. Along with complimentary breakfast, there was a hot cocoa station.
