Woodspring Suites Tuscaloosa

I spent about two weeks here for a summer internship in Tuscaloosa, needing somewhere long term. The first day it looked nice and smelled good, but within 90 seconds I’d killed my first roach. I had to keep the AC at 63 F or lower to stop bugs coming out. Once, with the heat set to 74, I found six roaches and bugs in the kitchen sink, and saw another come out of the bathroom sink. I killed at least four or five bugs every day, and there wasn’t a spot in the room where I hadn’t killed one. They came through cracks in every wall corner and damaged wooden floorboards. It had motel vibes at regular hotel prices, which it wasn’t worth. Laundry cost 2.25 to wash and 2.50 to dry. Two washers were broken, with no signs to warn people. I washed a blanket in one and it came out soaked because it hadn’t drained. That happened with both broken washers. This would be -5/5 if it could. If I could show the pictures, I would.

They refunded the money for the six days I didn’t stay, and I appreciate that. I’d tried to book a week but checked out after one day because there were over 100 roaches all over the room. They said they’d just treated it, so the roaches were on the move, and I believe that was true. The male manager wouldn’t let me bring in a small twin size topper to make the bed comfortable. His customer service was zero, though I understand he didn’t want me bringing in bugs. In hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t, since there was a greater chance I’d take roaches home. I guarantee I won’t even try to stay here again, though my stays at Woodsprings elsewhere have mostly been positive.

My husband has been there for 3.5 weeks, and his room still hasn’t been cleaned once, even though we were told it would be cleaned every two weeks. It has a terrible stench, and we’ve seen one roach. The stove and full fridge are nice, and the staff have mostly been friendly. I wish they’d clean the room more often, especially since he works so much and has little time or energy after work to do it himself.

My wife and I checked out after finding roaches and ants in our room. There weren’t just two or three, there were hundreds, and I’m serious. It looked like a whole colony was behind the AC and fridge. When I went to complain, two other guys were already at the front desk reporting roaches and ants in their rooms. They still refused to refund us for that day. If you like roaches, this would be a wonderful place to live :)
