Lighthouse Inn

Brandy took great care of me when I called to reserve a lake-view room and mentioned I’d be doing night photography. She put me on the second floor right beside the exit to the private Lake Michigan beach, and the view from my room was gorgeous. The room itself was super clean. There’s plenty of free parking, strong and fast free Wi-Fi in the rooms and around the property, and an exercise room. Breakfast is made to order at the restaurant in the morning, with a $7.50 credit. The attached Water’s Edge has tasty food, a lake view while you dine, and room service too. It’s a short drive to Manitowoc and near Point Beach State Park for hiking. The staff were helpful and great. I’ll definitely come back.

The lake rooms have beautiful views, and the inn feels quaint and memorable, from the iron gates that close off reception to the quilted bedspreads. The restaurant’s wall of windows looks out over the lake, and our room was always clean. Staff were very friendly. The shower head, sink, and toilet were all a bit short, but they worked well. We really enjoyed staying here.

The location is beautiful, and breakfast at the restaurant was very good. The place feels pretty outdated and a little musty. It was odd having to be buzzed into the pool and fitness center. The beds weren’t bad, though the toilet sat very low to the ground.

My wife and I have stayed at the Lighthouse Inn for several years and keep coming back for its clean, quiet rooms, friendly feel, good food, and bar with a view of Lake Michigan. Breakfast is complimentary, with a choice of meals or a discount toward a more expensive breakfast. I had a two-egg omelet with toast and a drink. The location makes it easy to explore too: it’s right on Lake Michigan, about 30 minutes from Green Bay, 45 minutes from Door County, and five minutes from Manitowoc. There you’ll find pubs, great dining, a maritime museum, a submarine tour, and live music. You can’t go wrong staying at the Lighthouse Inn.
