Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Tyler

The lobby was pleasant, and the desk clerks were nice on every shift, but the rooms were in rough shape. Both showers had dirty soap scum left on the walls, and the duvets were stained. If those marks can't be removed, they need replacing. The curtains in both rooms were torn from top to bottom, and one box spring had a large brownish stain on its side. We'd booked two rooms for a family weekend around a funeral and had asked for extra towels in both, but they weren't there. The floor felt weak in several spots in the room and hallway. The hotel needs serious cleaning and renovation.

The smell followed me everywhere, from the lobby and elevators to the stairs, rooms, and even the linens. It was like a head shop throughout the whole hotel. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're looking for a contact high.

The staff are always pleasant and kind, and breakfast is great. It's always a pleasure to stay here.

This was easily my worst stay here in the three years we've been coming. I called before booking to check that the pool was open and was told it was, but it was shut down when we arrived. Breakfast was supposed to run until 9:30, yet when we came down at 8 we had to hurry because they were already clearing it away. Check-in was another mess. My booking said 1, but they wouldn't let me in until 3. Once we finally got upstairs with my two kids, the room door wouldn't open, so I had to go back down, get the manager, and wait again. The daytime woman was rude and unprofessional, an absolute nightmare. I won't book here again.
