Staybridge Suites University Area by IHG

We had an event at the Cowan Center, just about 4 minutes away, and found the location convenient, with lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel had plenty of parking, and the front desk attendant was very polite and friendly, making check-in easy. Our room was extremely spacious, so families wouldn't feel crowded. The kitchen had everything you'd need to cook, and the fridge was large and roomy. We also enjoyed relaxing by the outdoor fireplace and in the indoor lounge. We'll book here again next time we're in town.

Of the three Staybridge Suites we stayed at last week, this one was the best maintained. Check-in was quick, and the young man at reception was friendly and professional. We felt welcome, and the room was clean and spacious, with no complaints there. Breakfast was very subpar, as it had been at all three Staybridge Suites. I didn't expect to eat from Styrofoam plates and bowls with plastic cutlery. It made the meal feel a bit like being in a detention center, where they're worried inmates might hurt one another or themselves. A 3-star hotel should have real plates and flatware. For example, California banned Styrofoam plates and similar items over a year ago. There's also the concern about harmful substances leaching from Styrofoam when hot food like eggs, sausages, and bacon goes on it. Seeing guests come to breakfast in pajamas didn't help. I really don't need to see people in pink pyjamas with pink cupcakes printed on them in public spaces at any time of day. Otherwise it was OK, but if I had a choice I'd probably not stay again, or at least skip breakfast.

This is my preferred place to stay in Tyler. It's well located, with spacious, clean, quiet rooms and plenty of parking. The beds are comfortable with down-filled pillows, and the AC works well enough to keep the room cool at night. I travel for work and have stayed in plenty of small-town hotels on a company budget. This one went beyond all my expectations, even compared with my Marriott preferences. Zayden greeted me at check-in, was very professional and welcoming, recognized my IHG loyalty, and accommodated my room preferences and requests. Breakfast had more options than the basic, bland spreads hotels often offer. If you're after a great Tyler hotel and want respectful, mature adults who don't make loud noise outside your room all night, this is the place. Thanks, Staybridge. I'll be back next month.

I was out of town for a family emergency and chose to stay here. Austin welcomed me right from the start and was understanding throughout. He has a lot of patience and does an amazing job making guests feel welcome and greeted. I'm glad I picked this place from among the several I reviewed. I highly recommend it and will definitely return, mainly to see Austin and experience that great customer service again. A big thank you to him for being so amazing. He was the face of the hotel and company that day. Keep it up, Austin.
