Quality Inn Spartanburg Northwest

The lobby smelled strongly of onions, and with more than 10 people sitting there when I arrived, I felt so uncomfortable I wanted to leave right away. The area didn’t look safe to me either. I’d driven eight hours to visit family and had already paid and booked ahead, but the service desk made checking in really difficult. I’m also a Choice Privileges member, and the guy never acknowledged that or made me feel welcome. The service was terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It was the worst service I’ve experienced.

We left and got our money back after staff agreed to refund us. The first room was dirty, and the second was okay, but the bed hadn’t been cleaned. Check-in and checkout were done through a kiosk with a real guy on the screen, which was fine.

I ended up calling someone to come to the front desk after the kiosk attendant couldn’t help with my reservation. I’d booked online right in front of the kiosk, but it put in the wrong date, and he said he couldn’t change it. The attendant’s English was poor, which made it hard to get help. When someone came up, he laughed and said he couldn’t help either. Now I’m on hold with customer service, since nobody seems willing to help. There isn’t anyone stationed at the desk, just the virtual kiosk.

The bed was comfortable and breakfast was good. We stayed at this property last year and came back again. The check-in process has changed a little, and now it’s through a kiosk. The people there were very helpful and helped me with everything.
