Quality Inn Union City US 51

For the price, it’s a nice place, though it could use some upgrades. The shower definitely needs work, and we spotted bugs on the ceiling. We told the front desk and they moved us to another room immediately, where we had no further problems. The staff were excellent.

The rooms were clean and everything worked, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was a real bright spot: a hot continental buffet with eggs and different proteins, kept up by a sweet lady who greeted everyone in the morning. I’d have given it five stars if the guest laundry had been better. One washer wouldn’t rinse or wring clothes out properly, and another didn’t work at all.

The lobby was the best-looking part, and breakfast was okay. The front desk woman was nice, though she seemed worn down by all the complaints. We were in town for my uncle's funeral, and with every hotel sold out that weekend, we ended up here. The pool was closed, and we were first told the elevator worked, then told by maintenance there was a problem. They eventually turned it on after we used a translator and explained older women were with us. Housekeeping was kind but barely cleaned, and communication was difficult. We changed rooms three times. The first smelled of smoke, had a dirty shower, and baseboards pulling away from the wall. Rooms two and three had dirty carpets with stains everywhere. In the fourth, after asking for clean sheets, housekeeping put more stained ones on the bed. The bathroom was dirty, the room dusty, and even the remote and microwave were dirty. There were blood-like spots on the sheets, peeling chairs, and lampshades with holes in two different colors. Cleaning was barely done. The online photos are a lie. Stay at your own risk if a dirty room is fine with you. This was the worst place we've experienced. Run. I'll never stay here again. Shut it down or fix it up.

We had a mix-up when a system glitch changed our dates, but they understood and corrected it quickly, so we could stay when we intended. The whole place was much cleaner than we expected, and our room had more options than we've seen at other hotels: full-size shampoo, conditioner and lotion, plus a hair dryer, tea and coffee maker, fridge and freezer, microwave, and iron with ironing board. There were plenty of other amenities we didn't need, too. An arcade is attached, and we wore ourselves out playing bootleg games. We'll come back when we're in the area.
