Belterra Casino Resort

Nicole was there for me on the wedding day, even fixing my dress before I walked down the aisle. She started out as Belterra’s wedding coordinator and became family to us. We had our wedding there in September, and it was beautiful. The food tasting was amazing, and while it was worth the price, a few minor details were missed. Nothing kept the day from happening, though, and if nothing goes wrong at your wedding, you’re blessed. My dreams came true, and I have beautiful pictures.

Joshua was our favorite part of the casino. We loved having him as our blackjack dealer, and he’s why we stayed as long as we did. The massages were amazing too, and our room was beautiful. I wish it had a microwave, though. After a night downstairs, we wanted to warm up leftovers before bed, but couldn’t. Aside from that, everything from the casino to the welcoming staff was wonderful.

The casino was fine, though it didn’t feel especially exciting. It’s on two floors, with elevators and an escalator that was under maintenance during my visit. The upper floor had table games and most of the newer slots; downstairs seemed to have older machines and lower paying slots. There were craps, roulette, blackjack, three card poker, and a few other games. The high limit slot area was behind a small, unmarked door, so I wasn’t sure I was meant to go in, but it wasn’t blocked off. Soda and ATM/cash stations were easy to find, as were restrooms. The staff I spoke with were friendly. Asking about available awards took a while because the systems seemed very slow and old. That’s no slight against the employee who helped me. The Boyd Rewards app and website also felt dated and clunky. My room at Belterra was comfortable overall. The king bed had plenty of dense pillows, plus a big cylindrical decorative one. There was a lounge chair, desk, bedside tables on both sides, a decent sized TV, lots of dresser drawers, a small fridge, and an armoire with a safe. The light above the armoire was blindingly bright. The TV menu was adequate, but I hoped to connect to more than YouTube and Netflix, and the remote was awkward to use in the dark. The bathroom was phenomenal, very spacious, with a glass shower, its own TV, and a great jacuzzi tub. The water got hot quickly and had plenty of pressure, so filling the tub took no time. The view was mostly blocked by a gaudy parking garage. I also had just one large towel, which struck me as odd, though I know I could have called for more. There was no microwave. I stayed on the 10th floor on a Sunday night in late February, and it was quiet as a mouse, possibly because there weren’t many people there. The location felt remote, out in the hills of southern Indiana. Some of the old country roads were scenic but narrow, about a lane and a half, and seemed a little dangerous, especially if conditions were bad. The pool was closed for the season, and I didn’t get to see a show or visit the shops, restaurants, spa, or other amenities on site. I’m hoping to try more on a future trip. I enjoyed my short stay and plan to return. I’d attached a video tour of the room to this review.

We drove an hour to play tonight, and the staff were the rudest we’ve encountered at any casino. Hope and Victor, the pit bosses, were especially unpleasant and seemed intent on making players uncomfortable. They made wild, false allegations about things nobody had said and were overly harsh about the no phone rule. My friend was reprimanded for having his phone on his leg before he even had chips, just after sitting down. We appreciated head manager Lon talking with us afterward in a professional, apologetic, and courteous way. Next time we’ll drive the extra 20 minutes to Hardrock, and I’d encourage others to do the same.
