Courtyard by Marriott Iowa City University Heights

We came for an Iowa women’s basketball game, and the shuttle made getting there and back easy. The driver was so great. Free onsite parking was a real plus in Iowa City, and the hotel felt clean, modern, and updated. The price was reasonable that weekend, though it’s been pretty high on other weekends. The water and snow made the beautiful floor tiles really slick, and several of us slipped. We also wanted to order food and watch a football game, but could only sit in one corner of the lobby. I understand the restaurant wants guests to have its food, but it was still disappointing. After we asked a couple of times, someone turned up the sound on one of the lobby TVs so we could hear the game. Even with those letdowns, we had a great experience.

Fernanda greeted me on my first visit, and she’s still there three years later, making every arrival feel welcome. She’s bubbly and always happy to see us. I’d hire her in a second if she moved to Chicago! She’s a keeper. I’ve been coming to Iowa City while my son has been going to school here, and I love staying at this hotel.

Evan at the front desk made a stressful weekend away from my apartment so much easier. He took my call earlier that evening to make sure I could get in, recognized me at check-in, and sorted out a problem with my room. The hotel was clean, the pool was amazing, and the restaurant staff were great. I can’t recommend the friendly, quick, approachable workers enough. Best stay ever!

Everything was great until I found out later in the evening that the AC wasn’t working. The front desk wasn’t much help, and there was nothing they could do at the time. I’m staying three more days, so I hope they can fix it or move me to another room tomorrow. It’s hard to sleep when you’re sweaty and uncomfortable.
