Blue Lakes Village

That morning view of the lake was a 10/10. The staff were friendly, the bathrooms clean, and our air-conditioned tent/yurt made for a pleasant weekend. Getting to the lake meant crossing the road, which felt a little sketchy, but the beach and dock were great for fishing, swimming, and taking a kayak out.

The RV spaces had a good amount of room, and the small lakeside area was across a busy highway with no lights to help you cross. We’d called ahead to check availability and made a reservation by phone, but once we arrived we couldn’t reach anyone. Someone eventually came by after about 20 minutes. She was busy elsewhere on the property, which I understand. The showers were my main problem: there were two, one wouldn’t lock and the other took some effort to latch. The water was cold, there were more bugs than I wanted to share that small room with, and there was a gap beneath the door. Fine for one night, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

The owner was extremely nice, and so were all the employees. My son and I stayed in the Diplomat II RV, which made a perfect base for exploring Lake County. Parking and check-in were easy, and the location was central to the best spots around the Lake. Definitely recommend it if you’re after a rustic good time!

Blue Lakes Village is such a peaceful spot, with the beautiful lake just across the road and clear night skies. It was quiet, too. The village has a cute garden and dog park. I spent one night in one of their retro RVs, and it exceeded my expectations: beautifully decorated, with the original vintage character still there and plenty of comfort. It’s also stocked for a longer stay, with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hot plates, dishes, pots and pans, and utensils. I loved being there and will definitely come back.
