Comfort Suites Urbana Champaign, University Area

The staff were nice and very polite, and both the room and fitness studio were clean. The room decor felt a bit old-fashioned to me, and I don't like carpet in hotel rooms. They also hadn't cleared the snow from the parking lot.

It was only two minutes off the freeway, which made getting there easy. The price was about $10 less than the next closest place with a pool and hot tub. I can see why it's rated 9.0, and I agree. The pool and hot tub were open 24 hours, which was a great surprise. Everything there was clean and uncluttered, with plenty of towels. We also had a microwave and a mini fridge with a freezer, which you rarely seem to get these days. Breakfast was really good. We came about 30 minutes before closing, and they still brought out fresh trays of potatoes and sausage gravy, plus fruit, cereal, bagels, and a waffle maker. The staff were all A+ and so kind and helpful. They greeted us, answered questions quickly, and helped when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the room. That includes the front desk, housekeeping, and kitchen staff. Manager, if you're reading this, please give them a treat or bonus.

We got here at 3 pm, the stated check-in time, but our room wasn't ready. They said it would probably be another 40 minutes. Our room was a handicap room, and I don't understand why it wasn't made ready for the guests arriving that night, especially when they weren't full and still had double figure rooms available. The rooms for tonight's guests should be clean and ready by the 3 pm check-in time.

Laura handled the block of rooms for my recent wedding, and she was amazing. Whenever I asked for an updated list of who had booked or had a shuttle question, she got right on it. Calvin, the shuttle driver, was so nice too. We had a really great stay, and I'm glad we chose them after the wedding. Highly recommend, and ask for Laura.
