Drury Plaza Hotel Valdosta

We enjoyed the clean, spacious room, the comfortable bedding, and the very good breakfast. The lobby has lots of seating and a huge TV, there's coffee available around the clock, and the daily pool and hot tub were wonderful. Towels were provided there, and the snack area let us charge ice cream and other sweet or savory treats to our room. My granddaughter loved that. The evening kickbacks with drinks and popcorn were another nice perk, since we could relax and eat without cooking or cleaning up. I worked in hospitality for over twenty years before retiring, so after reading reviews and doing research, I booked us a longer stay and reminded myself to enjoy it instead of being a critic. The staff were generally pleasant, friendly, and helpful. We stayed at Drury Plaza in Valdosta for the first time last month, in February. The main problem was our room's air conditioning. Rooms facing the front get the hot afternoon South Georgia sun, and our AC struggled to keep the room cool, which wasn't good for tired grandkids. I reported it to the front desk and was told management would be notified. After waiting forty minutes, I propped the door open with a suitcase and turned on a small fan we'd brought. Cooler air came in; we closed the drapes and waited. I called again and got the same response. Nobody came by or called us, though the room eventually cooled by dark and we went to sleep. No one followed up, including at checkout, when I mentioned it again and said the AC needed checking. There were a few other issues too. Still, we had a good stay and expect to use this hotel for our quarterly visits in the future. It's a very nice place overall, and the clean rooms, breakfast, dinner, all-day coffee, and comfortable beds made it worthwhile. Staff communication matters for making sure guests have a good experience and want to return or recommend the hotel. I tried to use the review Drury sent, but got a message that the survey had expired. My email said it expired March 11, 2026, and it was March 6, so I couldn't submit it through their link. That's why I'm writing this on Google. We'll be back in a few months for our next trip to Valdosta.
