Dumplin Patch Bed & Breakfast

There were hardly any other people around, which made this place feel like a real gem. The host was warm and welcoming, and the cozy, friendly atmosphere felt almost like visiting family you hadn’t met yet. It’s very convenient for getting to Grand Canyon National Park, and the complimentary breakfast set us up for a day of walking and hiking. The host suggested a picnic lunch at Shoshone Point, which turned out to be incredible.

We booked the Private Cabin for a night through the website without any trouble. An email arrived on our day of arrival in late March with the check-in instructions, and getting into the cabin was easy. The cabin and its facilities met our expectations, and the location is great, about 30 minutes from the Grand Canyon. The grounds look a bit worn, though. In the morning we had coffee in the sunny cabin patio, took a relaxing shower, then went to the main building at about 9:20 for breakfast before leaving. The instructions had said breakfast would be served in the main house dining room from 8 to 10. Instead, we had to track down the hostess, who told us breakfast was at 8 and that she’d already cleared everything away. There was no explanation, apology, or alternative. Disappointing. Thanks, Dumplin Patch, for the great Bed & No Breakfast!

Just awesome. The facilities are top notch, and the location is great. With no neighbours around, there’s nobody to worry about disturbing.

The place felt homey, with a lovely room and lots of thoughtful little extras. We came back after an early hike and had a nice spot to relax and watch the sunset. The staff were great, and the whole stay was better than we expected. It’s an easy 30-minute drive to the Grand Canyon. The owner is a backcountry guide and gave us lots of information about the park and hikes. Breakfast was cooked and really good, and they also had an option for us when we needed to leave very early.
